Volkswagen employees often need to travel far for the training program, which hinders the learning process. Therefore, the company wanted to use virtual reality to create a more efficient workflow for its training courses.
Employees complete tasks in the VR simulation such as installing a door or brake. Along with the assembly training there also have been simulations developed for customer service and an introduction training for new employees. There is a supervisor present during the training to give advice and assistance. The simulation increases effectiveness and leaves room for evaluation and improvements.
Volkswagen developed more than 30 different assignments and trained more than ten thousand employees. The VR training provides an efficient and cheaper learning environment.
