Snapchat | AR Statue honoring black footballers

Snapchat teamed up with creator collective Kugali and anti-racism organization Kick It Out to immortalize black English footballers with augmented reality statues. Snapchat is trying to restore representation between black British footballers and their white colleagues. Of the 200 statues of football players, only five are of black players.

The statues can be seen outside Wembley Stadium via Snapchat. The user unlocks the ability to view the statues via Snapcode when they are near the stadium.

Snapchat acted in honor of the European Championships by showing the contributions of black football players. The Bobby Moore statue is now virtually surrounded by some of the most influential black footballers in England’s history.
