OnePlus is the first to host a full-fledged AR event. It showcased the new OnePlus Nord, in a live stream using 3D models and a virtual avatar.
The app included a 3D augmented reality stage with animations and HD video content. Viewers could see and interact with features and detailed specifications of the new smartphone. They could also create, share, and react to the launch using their own avatar. The company sent event invitations to 50,000 people including QR codes to see event teasers and join the event in the OnePlus app.
More than a hundred thousand people watched the live-streamed event worldwide through the OnePlus Nord AR app. Brands could already be considering using AR to launch their own campaigns in the future to engage target audiences, especially during COVID. There have been over 4 million notification requests for the OnePlus Nord so far.
