The client

NLinBusiness is an initiative of VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland (the Dutch Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) with the aim of providing support in realising the international ambitions of the Dutch business community.

In cooperation with them we developed Virtual Gateway NL. A virtual platform for PC and VR where you can experience Dutch innovations in 360 degrees.

The question

The Netherlands is a leader in facilitating smart charging solutions for Electric Vehicles. VR Owl was asked to make a 360° video in which we -‘The Dutch’- inspire other countries with Dutch globally deployable solutions in this area.

The experience

This video shows that electric driving is becoming more accessible to more and more people and is helping to reduce the use of fossil fuels.  The viewer sees various innovative solutions such as smart energy use and data-driven operation.

The introduction

The video starts with a globe and zooms in on the Netherlands and then shows various Dutch innovations in the field of infrastructure such as the complex road network and the Afsluitdijk.

Drone flight

A drone flies with a 360 camera over a charging station where cars and buses can charge simultaneously and where the power is generated by solar panels. This solution is illustrated with various 2D animations.

Multimedia production

The 360 video uses 360 images from drones and a car complemented by 2D videos, photos and animations. In addition, the production includes 3D content such as visualisations of the car park, cars and transitions. All content was produced by our in-house team in close cooperation with the various stakeholders.

International rollout

The video takes you to one of the most advanced charging stations in Germany. Here you charge with green electricity and get an insight into the availability of the network via the so-called ‘EV Cloud’. 


The latest innovations are the so-called charging plaza and vehicle to grid solutions where available power is automatically distributed between buildings and vehicles. 


In conclusion, the need for data-driven operation and cooperation is mentioned and an overview is given of the participating parties with whom viewers can connect via the platform.
