Mateco | Company Showcase 360

The client

Mateco is a provider of aerial work platforms for the rental market with over 160 locations in Europe. The fleet consists of more than 4,500 machines in more than 700 sizes and applications. In the area of the rental of aerial work platforms, forklift trucks and telehandlers, Mateco is a major international player that sets great store by sustainability and CSR.

The question

Mateco wants to tell its story about who they are, what services they provide and how they help clients communicate in a powerful and new way. For this, they want to use new, innovative communication tools. VR Owl was asked to innovatively position the company and its products.

The solution

VR Owl made two 360 degree videos; one of the company and one of the products. For this we used 360 degree cameras, drones, aerial work platforms and driving shots. Furthermore, it is completed with visual effects from the new Unreal Engine 5.

The company video

The company video starts with a globe and zooms in on Europe, the Netherlands and ends in Rotterdam. A drone shot shows the river Maas with the Erasmus Bridge in its sights, and in the next scene you see a Mateco transport truck driving over it.

The video takes you along the different departments of the company and various practical situations. The video ends with a beautiful drone shot and an overview of all Mateco’s locations in the Netherlands.

The experience impressively shows the heavy equipment and what it is used for. The use of drones, shots on and in vehicles and visual effects creates a dynamic video that continues to interest the viewer.

The product video

In the 360 product video you visit a virtual construction site. The experience is entirely built with the Unreal Engine using 3D models with Mateco branding. In the video, you see various machines and the application possibilities for each phase of a construction project.

For example, you see a telescopic boom lift during the construction of the building and a scissor lift during the installation of the light. In the video, the construction project comes to life through animation and the machines are annotated for more in-depth information. This makes for an informative video that looks fantastic thanks to the new Unreal Engine 5.

Presentation

The videos are made for Mateco’s (potential) clients, companies within the construction industry throughout Europe. The account managers go out with PICO G2 4K VR glasses and can easily show the video with specially developed software. High potential leads were sent a VR Cardboard with which they can watch the video themselves via YouTube. Finally, the video can be viewed via the company’s website and is therefore accessible to a wide audience.
