The client

Madame Tussauds Amsterdam is a wax museum situated in Amsterdam . The collection of Madame Tussauds Amsterdam consists of a collection of wax figures of famous celebrities in different categories such as music, sport and film.

The question

In honor of the 75th birthday of Johan Cruijff, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam wanted to add the image of the best football player of all time for the third time in its existence. The Museum asked us to help develop an interactive installation to help bring the memory of Johan further to live.

The solution

Take your turn to wear the number 14! An interactive mirror which allows visitors to wear one of four famous football shirts worn by Johan. After selecting the shirt visitors are asked to pose for a picture which is sent automatically to the email address provided at the entrance.

The Mirror

We created an interactive mirror which allows visitors to wear one of four famous football shirts worn by Johan.  After selecting the shirt visitors are asked to pose for a picture which is sent automatically to the email address given when entering the museum.

The controls

After scanning the QR code on the tickets the experience starts when the visitors stand on a circle which is placed at an ideal distance from the mirror.  The gesture recognition allows users to select a shirt using just hand motions.

The shirts

The shirts are taken from some of the clubs Johan played for such as Ajax, Barcelona and Feyenoord and of course the shirts from the infamous ‘74 World Cup is included. The shirts are designed in 3D and fit with textures to perfectly resemble their real-life versions.

The result

The mirror adds a lot of depth to the experience of Madam Tussauds by allowing visitors to take a few steps in this legend’s shoes, while taking home a souvenir in the form of a picture.
