The Pokemon Company has produced a new application for mobile phones called Pokémon Smile. The app uses augmented reality to teach kids how to brush their teeth and creates a fun experience while doing so.
Pokémon Smile utilizes the front-facing camera to monitor the movements of the player as they brush. The goal of the game is to properly clean the teeth and to rescue other pokémon from cavity-causing bacteria, whereafter the user catches their favorite pokémon as a reward. The game also features a notification system to notify the player up to three times a day to remind to brush.
The application has many features to encourage kids to play and to form a habit to brush twice a day. It also contains over 100 pokémon to catch to complete the Pokedex. The app currently has over 2500+ ratings within a week. The official pokémon smile trailer almost has over 100.000 views and was featured on the Pokémon Presents event on June 17th.
