Snapchat is launching together with Virgil Abloh and his clothing brand Off-White an augmented reality experience. The lens reminds Snapchatters of the importance of wearing face masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The lens allows Snapchat users to virtually fit three different face masks which are also for sale on the Off-White website. By scanning a special Snapchat code, the user unlocks the lens for 48 hours. Snapchat’s goal is to connect the online and offline world.
Virgil Abloh said that “It is important now, more than ever, to check in on your community, to ensure we are keeping each other safe.” The lens has now been used thousands of times and received attention from websites such as Mashable and WWD.
