As per the report, 24.950 US firefighters experienced non-fatal injuries between 2015-and 2019 during on-field training. To create a safer, controlled and environmentally-friendly training environment, NFPA has turned to Virtual Reality for fire training across fire services in the US.
In a video released by NFPA, the VR training consists of various training modules from a post-collision vehicle fire to a residential and high-rise building fire. VR is a great immersive learning tool for those who are interested in pursuing a career as a firefighter but don’t understand how it works.
The US fire administration confirmed that VR technology is raising the bar in firefighter training. The use of VR technology allows training for incidents that cannot easily be replicated or may be very costly to recreate, not to mention eliminating the hazards involved in live training.
