Mexico City Police | Virtual Reality
Mexico City police are using virtual reality to train its officers to improve their reflexes and practice maneuvers in emergency situations such as shootings or hostage crisis.
The VR simulation consists of a hostage situation where a child is taken hostage in Tepito, a neighborhood in Mexico. The officer approaches the hostage taker, forces him to drop his weapon, and frees the child. Moreover, the simulation consists of various interventions from schools and shopping centers to restaurants, highways, and airplanes.
The VR training is intended to improve the general performance of the officers in stressful situations and reduce the use of force without compromising safety.
