US Air Force | Suicide prevention VR training

Suicides are reportedly on the rise in the U.S. military. VR is now being put to action to help prevent these cases. The implemented VR technology helps Air Force officials confront and counter suicide.

The training contains different scenarios depending on the action of the trainee. “The training definitely puts you out of your comfort zone. It forces you to critically think about what you are going to say or do,” said Sgt. William Parisse. Depending on what the trainee says, the distressed person will react and open up a new scenario in which to respond correctly.

Sgt. Parisse emphasises that the VR training has better prepared him for an encounter with a distressed person. The US Air force confirms that they are happy with the VR training results and will continue to implement these solutions within the U.S. military.
