Lakeland community college’s surgical technology program has acquired new software to give students an impression of what it is like to work in an operating room. The students will use VR to learn more about different types of surgery.
The program will use PeriopSimVR which uses lifelike images and gaming technology in order to immerse the students in a realistic 3D world. Students can pick multiple surgeries to practice and then pick the correct instrument needed.
This software gives students the possibility to develop the skill of anticipating what instrument the surgeon will need. Practicing with PeriopSim gives the students confidence in their abilities to become an important member of the surgical team.
