The LA Hospital is a children’s hospital that trains doctors with fragile mannequins and spends nearly half a million euros on this every year. During the 2-hour training, the doctor is only practicing half the time. The purpose of the VR training was to make this process more efficient.
During the virtual reality training, students practice with virtual patients and staff who respond to the decisions in real time. The scenarios are based on existing case studies to stay close to reality. It is even possible to implement unexpected scenarios to keep students sharp during the training.
The training offers the hospital flexibility and a more efficient use of resources. Students can train more often in realistic scenarios, even if they are not in the same room as the others. This provides more flexibility and a faster learning process.
